Yoga Retreat Mallorca

Each year Cynthia runs a week-long yoga and adventure retreat in Mallorca — people fly in from all over the world to connect, slow down, and let go of whatever they arrived carrying. This was another season of it.

Retreats are a difficult thing to film. People are there precisely because they want to be unobserved, and the most open moments arrive once they've forgotten anyone is watching. So the job is mostly restraint: knowing when to lift the camera and, far more often, when not to. If the footage looks like nobody was working, that's the work.

I handled three things. Photography across the whole week — sessions, meals, hikes, and the quiet gaps between them. Sit-down testimonials with attendees while the experience was still fresh, which is the only window in which people can articulate what actually shifted. And the aftermovie, cut afterwards.

That last piece is the commercial one. A retreat aftermovie isn't a keepsake for the people who were there — they already lived the week. It's the most persuasive thing a future attendee will see before deciding to spend a week and a significant sum with someone they've never met, in another country. It has to carry the feeling, not just the itinerary.
